Study of air quality at an industrial area in coastal India

After privatization of the power sectors in India, fossil-fuel-based industries have an important role to play liberalization economy country. Modeling efforts will help a great deal designing stacks and taking appropriate pollution control measures for proposed plants. A case study has been cited with short-term (24-hour) use dispersion model assessing Ground Level Concentration (GLC) pollutants due existing major industries, their impact on large human settlement close The results new Desein Dispersion Model (DDM) are compared those Industrial Source Complex Short-Term, ISCST (version 3) US Environment Protection Agency. In DDM, reflection coefficient term used calculating GLCs. This advantage including gravitational settling site. Hourly meteorological data wind direction (degree), speed (ms-1), temperature (K), stability class, mixing height (m) as input both models. Short-term GLCs SO2 NOx assessed during monsoon, post-monsoon, summer winter under worst conditions. Comparison 8 hourly predicted concentrations corresponding observed values at nine locations around source indicates that DDM more suitable Indian conditions than ISCST3 model.
